I’ve been a little MIA from my blog, but your girl is back! Work, my Engagement and School was crazy for awhile but after getting my priorities in order I need to pick up the slack here on the blog.
And to start off I wanted to make a PSA to my followers of how important it is to eat healthy and have an active lifestyle. Looking back two years ago, I had just turned 21 and got caught up in the fun and outgoing lifestyle living in the city. Eating, drinking, and going out late a night…and dancing was not enough of a workout (especially when I found my way to the taco bell drive thru at 3am). Living with my boyfriend, becoming one of the guys eating hot wings and drinking beer.. before I knew it i had gained almost 25 lbs!
All through high school I had never struggled with my weight or had any body issues. Perhaps moving to a health conscious area like Los Angeles really opened my eyes (it just took me awhile). Its been a long journey, but Im finally close to the results that I have been aiming for and I wanted to share some of my tips that I found helpful.
CARDIO WORKOUTS! 3-5 times a week
I know it sounds like a lot but a small portion of you day 35-50 minutes get outside and jog, hike, bike, or walk- just get active and keep that heart rate up! I used to park a mile away from work so that I knew I had to power walk each morning and afternoon, small adjustments can make a HUGE difference!
CHANGE YOUR DIET!
For a lot of people this is the hardest part of losing weight. The working out is easy but once your done you indulge in hundreds of calories and reward yourself for the work. Think of it this way: you just burned 400 calories running, the worst thing you could do right now is go eat a cheeseburger you just wasted your entire workout!
I did a diet plan w some friends called the Whole Life Challenge which shocked my body into a healthier diet. And with the support of my friends we all were there for eachother through the bitching, temptation and celebrations. Check out their website for the details
FINAL TIP: WATER CONSUMPTION
What a simple tip right? We forget how much our bodys rely on water to keep our energy up, our metabolism pushing full force, and our belly full. Women should aim to drink 1 gallon of water a day- or 8 glasses at a minimum. I like to put fruits and flavors in my water to keep it interesting. Try slices of Lemon, Watermelon, Cucumber or Strawberry. I like to drink a big glass of water before each meal, it helps with portion control and slowing down your eating pace.
